My latest piece, "Yard Arm". I really like this piece as I enjoy painting detail and I never realized how much. I have often tried to paint very loose and suggestive, but it never felt quite right. I need to see in order to paint. I guess I don't have a great imagination. Regardless, I am pleased with the way it turned out, especially the sail. Thank you for looking~~!

My latest piece......"-30c Alberta Sunrise"......I am really enjoying doing these little landscapes. I can't believe I didn't try them sooner as they are so much fun! I am starting to understand how to depict nature's little treasures and I especially love doing skies. I can certainly see how to improve on them; but, unlike before, I don't expect to master them overnight....I think, for now, I'll just enjoy the journey~~! Cheers

A little piece I painted today...my first attempt at sea spray. Overall, I'm pleased, especially with the sky. Although I captured the scene as I saw it, I had to tone down the sea spray a bit as it was distracting the eye a bit too much. The spray in the actual photo was much higher and larger. I really love this new technique I've discovered for doing rocks....I could sit and paint rocks all day~~! In this particular piece, I tried adding in some grey rocks. Something I had never done before. I'm pleased with the way they turned out. I'm really having a great time with these little seascapes. Thanks for looking.

This is my latest piece, just completed today....I think I am finally starting to get the upper hand with landscapes. I don't find them so intimidating anymore. I really like the boats and the reflections in the foreground and I especially love the pink bouy~~! Now, on to my next piece.

I just wanted to try my hand at a little landscape since I am trying to get away from florals. I learned a new technique to paint the rocks...this is my first attempt with this technique..I will definitely be using it again. Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia.

I'm having so much fun~~! I'm really trying my hand at different subject matter and this little piece only took me 2.5 hours. I learned a new technique for the stonework and it allowed me to whip through that area fairly quickly. I think the whole key here is the shading.

Hi everyone, just wanted to update as I haven't been blogging lately.....I decided that after fourteen years of painting that it was time to reinvent myself artistically and experiment with new subject matter. Of late, I have been trying my hand at landscapes and animals and for the first time in years, I am really enjoying the painting process. I'm much more relaxed !
As well, I've discovered some new brushes and techniques that I've been able to incorporate into the process. I hope it won't be too long before I'm comfortable enough to share. :)
