This little piece is from a photo I took in Chester, Nova Scotia. I spent the day driving around the South Shore looking for painting inspiration when I came across this great Adirondack chair on a deck near the waterfront. I really enjoyed the challenge of painting with such little colour and only value as a guide. Thank you for looking !

I've been painting daily lately and I'm really enjoying the process. I like the quote, "It's so hard when I have to, and so easy when I want to." ~Annie Gottlier. Such a simple thought, but so true. Yesterday, I spent the day driving around the South Shore of Nova Scotia taking pictures and looking for painting inspiration. I found some great little spots....your typical Nova Scotian coastal scenes.
This latest piece was just a quick little clay pot study. I want to be able to use this idea to complete a larger piece later. Thank you for looking~!

Well, I've been doing my best to avoid painting florals. They're my favorite subject to paint, but they've become boring and static and I'm forcing myself to try different setups and techniques. Still trying to reinvent myself. My latest effort, "The Gathering" is a little still life that offered me many challenges. It was a pleasure to paint something so unfamiliar and fresh to me. Thank you for looking~!

This piece, titled "Serendipity" was inspired by the negative painting technique. I love this technique!!! I could sit for hours and paint in the negative. I had this great photo of Easter lilies and thought it would make a great composition as I'm especially drawn to the lime green. Thank you for looking.

Just thinking of spring and trying to get back into painting after a little hiatus. This piece titled "Peace Rose" is one in a series of rose studies. I'm not usually a big fan of roses, but I couldn't help myself when I found this little beauty with it's yellows and pinks. I especially love how the direct light caused such defined highlights. Thank you for taking a peek !

My latest piece, "Yard Arm". I really like this piece as I enjoy painting detail and I never realized how much. I have often tried to paint very loose and suggestive, but it never felt quite right. I need to see in order to paint. I guess I don't have a great imagination. Regardless, I am pleased with the way it turned out, especially the sail. Thank you for looking~~!

My latest piece......"-30c Alberta Sunrise"......I am really enjoying doing these little landscapes. I can't believe I didn't try them sooner as they are so much fun! I am starting to understand how to depict nature's little treasures and I especially love doing skies. I can certainly see how to improve on them; but, unlike before, I don't expect to master them overnight....I think, for now, I'll just enjoy the journey~~! Cheers
